Hi HannahMcAbbott, Thanks for your updates. Based on your updated information, you are unable to find the email failed to send out with the over-large attachment in Outlook 2016 for Mac client. As you failed to send out the email, this email may not be held in Outbox folder. In this case, we suggest you check if this email is in the Drafts folder (For reference: ). Besides, you can try to send these related emails with large attachments by mail web client (If you are Office 365 users, you can try to send them by to give it a shot). If doesn’t work for you, you can contact our Outlook for mac experts for getting targeted help by clicking feature on the Help menu where linked to a dedicated support channel for Outlook for Mac issues. Your time and understanding are highly appreciated.
Regards, Jay. There is indeed no proper outbox in Outlook (no idea why they got rid of the user interface for that). There is an easy solution to your issue though:. Make sure you display the Sync Status window in Outlook (it's in the Window menu). Next time Outlook attempts to send the message out, it will be listed in the Sync Status window. All you have to do then is to click on the little x at the end of the corresponding line to delete the culprit.
Corentin — MVPs do.not. work for MS Les MVP ne.travaillent pas. pour MS. Unfortunately I am still getting error messages, but nothing appears in the Sync Status window. As email are sent they flash through at lightning speed. It's impossible to see what's there let alone delete anything, but I don't think the offending file is showing up.
I am doomed to receive error messages for the rest of time it seems. I'm SO disappointed with the latest versions of both Outlook and Word. The previous versions were much better.
The latest versions are full of clunky time-consuming ideas that make them both a pain to use. Hi HannahMcAbbott, Thanks for your updates. As this email isn’t in Drafts and Outbox folders and Sync Status window isn’t helpful, we suggest you try to use the search feature in Outlook 2016 for Mac to give it a shot. Besides, if you use an Exchange account, I suggest you clear the cache in Outlook for Mac client by following the steps below: 1. Make sure Outlook is connected to the Exchange server. In the navigation pane, right-click the folder under your Exchange account, and then click Properties.
On the General tab, click Empty Cache (After the folder is empty, Outlook automatically downloads the item from the Exchange server). If it’s still doesn’t work, to further look into it, we need to confirm what the type of the account you used in Outlook 2016 for Mac client is (POP, IMAP or Exchange) and if it is Office 365 for Business account. Meanwhile, if possible, could you please provide us the related screenshots about the error message or prompt you got? Regards, Jay.
As Jay mentioned, if it’s an Exchange account, clearing up the cache should help. If not, then the message “should” show up in the Sync Progress window (even if briefly). I’m not happy with a lot of the changes that have been made in Outlook either. For me, the lack of scripting support is a show-stopper. Not being able to reply inline (there is no proper quote support) is also really unprofessional).
We’d definitively need to have an outbox in the app to be able to resolve issues such as this one. At this point, assuming that it is indeed an issue with a message that fails to be sent out, I don’t know any better option than the Sync Progress window.
